Real estate web site predicts potential sellers

Offrs uses data to predict whether homeowners will sell — long before they put a sign in their front yard.
Dickson's site uses monthly information from 20 different database providers — whether a property is mortgaged and by how much, equity levels, and the like. The site also drills deeper, though, to sift through the backgrounds of each property and its owner, he said.
"Any type of life event, like a divorce or a bankruptcy filing or a kid going to college, that is the type of information that affects the property score," Dickson said.
The Offrs.com algorithm assigns a score of 0 to 100 on each property in a given neighborhood, which is, in turn, meant to be an indication of how likely a homeowner is to sell.
A green dot means that a home scores between 50 and 75 on this scale. A blue dot is even a stronger candidate for sale, with a score of 75 to 100.
